What isNeck Liposuction?
Neck liposuction is a procedure that removes fat from under the chin and at the neck. Once the fat is removed with this procedure, the neck skin should naturally tighten over time to reveal a better neck contour. To maximize the skin tightening, the skin can also be treated with FaceTite™, a bipolar radiofrequency device. This safely applies heat under the skin surface so that it tightens up even more than it would on its own. Neck liposuction can easily be combined with other surgeries, such as eyelid surgery and body liposuction.
How is Neck Liposuctionperformed?
Neck liposuction can be done under local anesthesia, IV sedation, or general anesthesia. Just a few tiny incisions are made under the chin and behind each ear. Through these incisions, a small instrument called a cannula is passed under the skin. After injecting local anesthesia and other medications to help with pain and reduce blood loss, the cannula is used to carefully and evenly remove fat from under the skin.

After this procedure, you will wear a compression garment under the chin to encourage the skin to tighten up. The majority of the swelling will go down and the discomfort will subside within the first 1-2 weeks. No drain tubes are required. Most patients are able to return to work about 1 week after surgery and you can resume your regular exercise routine after 4 weeks.

The incisions used for neck liposuction are very small and the scars typically heal quite well. To optimize the scar appearance over time, silicone gel and sunscreen are important in scar therapy after neck liposuction. It is important to stay at a healthy weight after neck liposuction to best maintain your result.
