Breast revision surgery can include a wide variety of procedures for a woman that has had breast surgery in the past and requires or desires adjustments.
Women who undergo breast revision surgery may have had one or a combination of these surgeries in the past: Breast augmentation, Breast lift (mastopexy), Breast lift (mastopexy) + augmentation, Breast reduction, Breast implant exchange, Breast implant removal
How is a Breast Revisionperformed?
After meeting with you and discussing your goals, Dr. Rodriguez will recommend a specific surgical plan. This may involve scar revision, capsule or breast pocket adjustment, moving the breast tissue and nipple, or changing the implant (if present). A breast revision surgery is typically done under general anesthesia and is done on an outpatient basis, meaning you go home the same day.

You may be a candidate for breast revision surgery by Dr. Rodriguez if you are a woman in the Houston area and you:
- RHave a deflated or ruptured breast implant
- RHad breast surgery previously but desire changes
- RHave recurrence of breast drooping (ptosis) after a prior breast lift
- RHave breast asymmetry after prior procedures
- RHave realistic expectations for this procedure
- RAre a non-smoker and do not use any nicotine
- RHave good control of all health conditions

After a breast revision, you will have a wrap placed around your chest during surgery and will switch to a supportive, soft sports bra at your first follow-up appointment. You should not wear an underwire bra until cleared by Dr. Rodriguez. Most patients can return to work by 2 weeks after surgery and can start exercising again 6 weeks after surgery.

After surgery, the scar will soften and fade over the coming months. Scar therapy using a silicone product, such as silicone sheets or silicone gel, is recommended to optimize the appearance of the scars.
