Buccal Fat is a normal collection or “pad” of fat within the cheek and side of the face. If this fat pad is large, the lower part of the face is full, or the cheeks and midface lack definition, the buccal fat pad can be reduced in size. This is done by removing the portion of the buccal fat pad that sits inside the lower cheek. The result is a more sculpted and refined appearance to the midface. How is Buccal Fat Removalperformed?
Local anesthesia can be used to comfortably perform Buccal Fat Removal. After numbing inside the cheek, an incision is made inside the mouth near the top molars. Through this incision, the buccal fat pad is carefully removed. Absorbable stitches are used to sew up the incision inside the mouth. The entire procedure takes less than an hour.
Buccal Fat Removal is frequently combined with other facial contouring procedures like a Facelift, FaceTite™, or Neck Liposuction.

Buccal Fat Removalrecovery
Buccal Fat Removal is a relatively quick procedure and usually takes less than an hour. In most cases, you can return to work the same day. You can drink and eat the day of your surgery but should avoid spicy, salty, acidic, or hard foods such as chips for the first few days. Each time after you eat or snack, you should use a prescribed mouthwash to clean out the mouth. You should gently brush your teeth twice a day starting the day after surgery. All stitches will dissolve on their own and do not need to be removed.
